Air Serbia Refund For Cancellation

When are you entitled to Air Serbia refund for cancellation?

Under what circumstances is flight cancellation compensation applicable?

Two potential scenarios may arise, and the timing of the flight cancellation is important.

So let’s delve into the crucial question — when was your flight cancelled?

Scenario 1: Flight Is Cancelled Less Than 2 Weeks Before the Trip

You are entitled to: Refund or a new flight + compensation (if it’s due to Air Serbia’s fault).

This is considered as a last-minute flight cancellation.

Air Serbia presents two options if they cancel your flight: a full refund or a new flight to your destination. You have the privilege to choose the option that serves you best. If the cancellation was due to a mistake by Air Serbia, you may also qualify for flight cancellation compensation.

Both the refund and the compensation will be deposited into your bank account.

Scenario 2: Flight Is Cancelled More Than 2 Weeks Before the Trip

Your rights include: Air Serbia refund for cancellation or another flight to your destination.

If your flight is cancelled more than 14 days before the scheduled departure, you won’t be eligible for compensation. However, you can still choose to get a refund instead of the new flight. Air Serbia is required to offer you the choice between a replacement flight or a refund, giving you the freedom to decide what suits you best.

Your Air Serbia refund should be processed within a week.

Refund must be made to your bank account. You don’t have to accept an Air Serbia voucher.

What If You Miss a Connecting Flight Due to a Flight Cancellation?

If it’s an airline-protected connecting flight, you are covered.

If your flight is cancelled and you miss your connecting flight, Air Serbia will provide a new flight to your destination without any additional cost. Regarding compensation, the same rules for delayed flights apply. You should check the duration of the delay compared to the original scheduled arrival. If the delay is 2 hours or more, you may be eligible for compensation.

Air Serbia Cancelled Flight Refund: FAQ

If My Flight Is Cancelled, Do I Get a Refund?

If your Air Serbia flight is cancelled, you can get a refund.

You can opt to receive an Air Serbia refund for cancellation instead of rebooking on a new flight. But you can’t get both.

If Air Serbia cancels your flight less than 14 days before the trip and it’s their fault, you may be eligible for both a refund (or new flight) and Air Serbia flight cancellation compensation.

Air Serbia Voucher Refund or Cash, Can I Get Money?

What if Air Serbia is offering you a voucher instead of compensation?

If Air Serbia offers you a voucher as compensation, you have the right to decline and ask for a cash payment instead. European Union regulations (Regulation (EC) No 261/2004) compel airlines to offer compensation and refunds in cash or bank transfers.

Have you already accepted a voucher?

Request Air Serbia to convert travel vouchers to cash.

What If Air Serbia Is Refusing Refund For Cancellation?

Don’t give up if Air Serbia is refusing your refund claim. You are protected under EU law.

You have the right to claim a refund. Point out Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, Articles 5 and 8, which mandate airlines to refund passengers in certain situations. If Air Serbia continues to be non-cooperative, engage the national enforcement body in the country where your flight was scheduled to depart for further assistance.

Can You Get Both Compensation and Refund?

There are situations where you can receive both.

If Air Serbia cancels your flight less than 14 days before the scheduled departure due to their mistake, you qualify for a full refund and compensation from Air Serbia. Please ensure that both the refund and compensation are deposited directly into your bank account, rather than being provided as vouchers.

Contact Air Serbia if you have already received a voucher or coupon, to exchange it for a cash refund.

What Happens If I Cancel My Flight, Not The Airline?

When you cancel a flight, the refund you receive depends on the type of ticket you purchased.

If you bought a non-refundable ticket, you may not get a refund. However, Air Serbia may offer you a voucher or allow you to change your booking for a fee.

If you purchased a refundable ticket, you can get a full refund. Always check the cancellation policy before booking your flight.

What Is Air Serbia’s Policy Regarding Flight Delays?

Air Serbia takes responsibility for flight delays that are within their control, such as mechanical issues or crew shortages. In such cases, passengers may be entitled to flight delay compensation.

If the delay is due to circumstances beyond the airline’s control, like weather or air traffic control, compensation might not be provided.

I Chose a Refund, But I Haven’t Received It Yet, What Should I Do?

If you have not received your refund within seven days, we recommend you to get in touch with Air Serbia customer service. It may be a delay in the bank transfer, but if the delay extends beyond a reasonable window, you should consider seeking further assistance or legal action.

What Is The Compensation If I Am Denied Boarding on an Air Serbia Flight?

If you’re denied boarding on an Air Serbia flight due to overbooking and you don’t voluntarily give up your seat, you may be entitled to compensation in line with EC Regulation 261/2004 norms. Compensation can run from €250 to €600 depending on the distance of your flight.

Can I Change My Flight Without Any Charges?

This largely depends on the fare conditions of your ticket.

Some fare types allow a certain degree of flexibility, where you can change your dates or even routes without additional costs. However, other fare types might charge a change fee plus any fare difference. Be sure to check the fare rules carefully before making your booking.

What If My Air Serbia Flight Is Cancelled Due To Weather?

It’s crucial to note that if your flight is cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances such as severe weather conditions, Air Serbua is not obligated to offer you compensation.

However, they must still provide you with the choice between a refund and a rebooking.

If it’s a last-minute flight cancellation and you are stranded at the airport, you have a right to care from Air Serbia.
